Spinner Dolphin or Long-snouted Dolphin * Toldolfyn * Stenella Longirostris

Dolfyn
They are more at home in the tropical waters and are not likely to be seen around the west coast of South Africa. They are acrobatic  and they also rotate around their body as they leap through the air. They can do between two and seven rotations while they are in the air.
They reach between 1.2 and 2.3 m in length and have a body mass of 23-79 kg.

They typically feed at night. During the daytime they rest in bays. At dusk they relocate to the deeper waters to feed, using echolocation to locate prey.
