Blainville's Beaked Whale or Dense-beaked Whale * Blainville-spitssnoetdolfyn * Mesoplodon Densirostris

Walvis
While females grow to at least 4.6 m (15') and 1 tonne, males grow to at least 4.4 m (14 ft 5 in) and 800 kg (1,800 lb) (2200 pounds). The beaked whales of Blainville don't actually bite their prey. They catch prey by sucking it in with their mouths.

The species often dives >800 m when foraging and can stay underwater for 48–68 minutes. The species forages for food in the deep ocean.

Several strandings have been linked to the use of sonar during naval combat operations throughout their range. Whale behavior is affected by infrequent and unpredictable noise, which is seen as a danger.
