They are mildly venomous. The venom of this back-fanged snake is mild and has almost no effect on humans.

They can reach upto 1m in length. It occurs largely in Kalahari thornveld extends into Botswana and Namibia. They have stripes running down the length of their body. They hunt for lizards, snakes and small rodents.
