MeerKAT is a radio telescope consisting of 64 antennas. It is located about 85km NW of Carnarvon or 140km E of Brandvlei. Each antenna is 13,5m in diameter. MeerKAT was launched in 2018.
Much of the computing building lies underground. This protects against heat and radio interferences. A group of 20 new galaxies was already discovered by MeerKAT.

It is the biggest and most sensitive radio telescope in the Southern Hemisphere.
