Nababeep Copper-mining hole

The massive hole on the premises of the O’okiep Copper Company is a remnant of decades of copper-mining activities. The hole is filled with bright-green water, which makes for quite a spectacular sight on sunny days.

Nababeep tour guide Gladys Fortuin organises tours to the old copper mine, where the last mining activities took place in 2004. From here, you have a great view of the mine, as well as the rest of the town. Gladys also takes visitors into the former smelter, which from the outside looks a lot like a cave.

Although the area is closed to the public, it is often used as a venue for private functions.
