Glacial Pavement near Oorlogskloof (S Nieuwoudtville 7km)

This attraction is located approximately 7km south of Nieuwoudtville on the road towards Botterkloof Pass, Pakhuis Pass and Clanwilliam.

Here you can witness traces formed by glaciers 300 million years ago when South Africa was part of Gondwanaland and covered under thick sheets of ice.

These glacial pavements tend to impede water infiltration and damp patches result. These patches are favourite habitats for some of the lovely local geophytic plants.
