Camel Thorn Tree Police & Military Headquarters (Kenhardt)

Magistrate M.Jackson and his police force spent the night of 27 December 1869 under this camel thorn tree en route to areas of unrest along the lower Orange river. During the following Koranna disturbances this spot became the most remote administrative police and military headquaters in the North-Western Cape. The tree is estimated to be between 500 & 600 years old.
